Is it wise to pursue an MBA degree in 2025?

An MBA is a master’s degree in business administration, not an entrepreneurship course. If you are not planning to become an entrepreneur now but rather understand the reality of the business world and advance in your career, then an MBA is a great option. Only an MBA degree can take your salary to 25-30 lacs from 4-5 lacs in just two years, which a candidate can expect just after graduation. Let’s discuss the points why one should pursue an MBA:

·        Business knowledge and a better job:

An engineering degree in computers gives you knowledge about coding, building applications, etc., and a psychology degree gives you knowledge about the functionality of the brain. In the same way, doctors know about the functioning of the human body and medicines. But all the above courses do not teach us how to run a business.

An engineering degree or an MBBS degree can help you earn money, but if you add a business degree to it, the growth prospect will increase manyfold. An MBA degree will help you understand the workings of your company, and not only your job. An MBA degree gives a better understanding of how your job is adding value to the company or the industry you are working for. One can grow from just a coder or application developer to a level of CTO or product manager. We can discuss the examples of Satya Nadella, Indira Nooyi, and Sundar Pichai. All three of them learnt about hard skills during their undergraduate degree and topped it with an MBA degree. And its the MBA degree which helped them to become CEO’s.

If one dreams to become a CEO, they need to pursue an MBA degree from a reputed institute like IIM’s, XLRI, FMS (Delhi University), or ISB Hyderabad. Here, they must keep in mind that to become the CEO of a company, an MBA from a non-reputed institute will not be of use.

·        Change an industry:

Someone who is frustrated and stressed out in a traditional sales job and it's taking a toll on the individual's mental & physical health can change their industry after completing an MBA. Changing an industry is not an easy thing. New industries will not let you enter as your experiences and knowledge are from a different industry, and no company would want to invest in training you after recruiting you on a higher salary. In the current scenario, it's often said that skill is valued more than a degree, but the same is not true in India to some extent. In India, 48% of people who complete an MBA end up changing their industry or domain.

·        Personal growth:

Upon joining an MBA degree, one gets an opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds. The experiences they gather and the activities they do will help you get out of your comfort zone. These activities will direct you to become a better version of yourself.

Hope these insights will help you to decide whether to pursue an MBA or not.
